"I am a veteran of Desert Storm and an academic, independent journalist and activist. My campaign, much like my background racially, ethnically and politically, is diverse, working-class focused and committed to genuine change for the disaffected majority."

  • End mass incarceration - find alternatives for non-violent drug offenders and pardon political prisoners.
  • Redistribute material benefits, wealth, goods and services.
  • End U.S. Militarism - immediate troop withdrawal and closure of bases outside of the U.S.

Jesse Johnson, Actor, Filmmaker, Writer

Age: 48. Lives in: Charleston, West Virginia

 

Statement:

"I'm a US Citizen, over 35 and a 14-year resident. I have not committed treason or high crimes and misdemeanors. I ran one of the most successful third party campaigns for Governor in 2004 and have been elected State Party Chair."

 

Top Priorities:

  • Demilitarize the economy.
  • Make the environment an educational and health priority.
  • Restore checks and balances and civil rights for all citizens.

Kent P. Mesplay, Air Quality Inspector

Age: 45. Lives in: Encinitas, California

 

Statement:

"I am a scientist, with a doctorate. I respect science, and I recognize that global climate change is a serious issue. I have lived and worked with people from many cultures and religions. I am thoughtful, kind and determined."

 

Top Priorities:

  • I will request that local governments and communities build sustainably and efficiently for better independence and basic security of water, food and energy.
  • We must end the war in Iraq.
  • I will ban lobbying.

Kat Swift, Bookkeeper & Facilitator

Age: 34. Lives in: San Antonio, Texas

 

Statement:

"I meet all constitutional requirements. I am an educated citizen and student of world affairs who understands my rights and how to regain them. I am an experienced facilitator with a diverse point of view and will not be bought."

 

Top Priorities:

  • Begin drastic reduction in violence against women and children.
  • Clean-up military contamination, cease military interventions and stop supporting dictatorships.
  • Institute single-payer healthcare and reallocate resources to benefit the middle class and working poor.
