Image of group picture Before you can vote, you need to register (sign up). It's free! You can register if you are:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • At least 18 years old by the next election
  • Not serving time for a felony or still on parole for a felony

The deadline to register is 15 days before the election. Sign up by May 19, 2008 for the June 3, 2008 State Primary. Once you have signed up, you usually do not need to re-register (sign up again) even if you have not voted for the past few elections.

You will need to re-register if:

  • You have moved, even if you only moved across the street.
  • You have changed your name.
  • You want to change the political party you chose on your last registration form.

Call your county elections office if you want to make sure your registration is up to date. You may also download a pdf of voting and election information in the following languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Armenian, Vietnamese and Korean.
